Tae Dong Gwan offers a straightforward Korean dining experience nestled on Rue Sainte-Anne, an area known for its concentration of Asian eateries in Paris. The restaurant serves a variety of classic Korean dishes like bibimbap, spicy jjampong, kimchi jjigae, and seafood pancakes, catering both to those familiar with Korean cuisine and curious newcomers.

The atmosphere is practical rather than polished, with dining areas on both the main level and a quieter basement floor. Some diners appreciate the basement for its relative calm compared to the bustling street-level seating, though be aware that connectivity can be limited down there. The space reflects the casual vibe of a neighborhood spot rather than a high-end restaurant.

Menu highlights include savory options like bulgogi beef marinated in a subtly sweet soy sauce, hearty hot stews such as kimchi jjigae, and crispy seafood pancakes that tend to receive positive nods. Portions tend to be well-prepared and filling, though some dishes show moderate seasoning tailored to local tastes rather than strict authenticity.

Tae Dong Gwan tends to attract visitors who want Korean flavors without the wait often found at trendier nearby places. Those who appreciate straightforward service and a no-frills environment will find this a convenient stop. The casual, somewhat utilitarian dining room feels best suited for lunch or early dinner visits when the street buzz hasn’t reached full intensity.

Overall, Tae Dong Gwan is a functional choice for Korean food lovers in the 1st arrondissement looking for a steady, if not fancy, culinary option in a busy Parisian neighborhood full of East Asian influences.

Korean restaurant, they sat us down in the basement, which was ok. Food is really good, but a bit more expensive compared to the cheaper places around it. That means no waiting time! In the basement you dont have any internet connection! Be aware. We had the kimchi jjigae and some korean kimchi pancakes, which were very good!

The beef bibimbap was good — well-prepared and flavorful. The spicy seafood jjampong had all the right ingredients but the broth lacked some depth of flavor. Service was good, and overall it was a pleasant dining experience.

Right in the japanese district, Chikoja is a great spot if you are craving for corean OG dishes during your Parisian trip. Decent serving staff, plenty seats in clean settings. Fried chicken was ok-ish, would have liked a bit more crisp and juicier chicken. Thumbs up for the kimchi pancake! Bibimbap was tasty, stingy on the meat though.

I won’t lie, we’ve been to this place because we were left with no other choice, but I am glad we did ! The queue in the other restaurants of the street we initially selected was too long. We were given a table in the underground floor which was less noisy and busy than the first floor. I ordered a beef curry ramen which was very tasty. I’m not sure the seasoning was authentically Korean though. Gyozas and garlic fried chicken were not the best I had but still pretty good. We had sticky rice for sharing and it was delicious, although overpriced given the portion. Other than that prices are affordable, especially the ramen soup menu which is really worth it.

The beef kimchi soup was good but a bit salty to my taste. The spicy chicken wasn’t spicy or fried enough. Otherwise it was tender and flavorful Service was friendly and prompt.
